KimKim Balzanelli, RN, BSN, BC


Kim Balzanelli’s devotion to nursing and concern for her patients are evident from the moment you meet her.   As Unit Coordinator of the Medical/Surgical and Pediatrics units at Mid Coast, she cares for both patients and staff with compassion and respect.

Born in Key West, Florida, Kim grew up in a Navy family, travelling all over the United States. She considers Brunswick her hometown now, having lived here for the past 20 years.

Kim has a 16-year-old son, and she spends much of her free time attending his sports events. Kim also volunteers with the Boy Scouts and the Brunswick High Hockey Boosters.   She enjoys spending summer hours at her family’s camp on Sebago Lake, boating, reading and quilting.

Kim began her nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1985.  She received her BS in Nursing from University of Southern Maine and became a Registered Nurse in 1989.   She achieved specialty certification in Medical/Surgical Nursing in 1992.

Kim is certified in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS).   She conducts ACLS AND PALS classes for the hospital staff, and community businesses and organizations.

In addition to her nursing duties, Kim serves as coordinator of the hospital’s Staff Development Department.  Kim is a member of the American Nursing Association (ANA) and serves on the ANA-Maine Continuing Education Committee.

As she approaches her 20th year at Mid Coast, Kim says, “I love it here!”
